WTF News: NYC Schools Give Out The ‘Morning-After’ Pills To Students Without Parental Consent

Mother and daughter WTF News: NYC Schools Give Out The Morning After Pills To Students Without Parental Consent

Jesus take the wheel & be a shield….

When I first saw the headline: “NYC schools give out morning-after pills to students — without telling parents” I had to read it because I seriously thought I was tripping.

According to NY Post, the department of education is giving out morning-after pills and other forms of birth control drugs to students at 13 high schools in New York.

School nurses have fully stocked offices with contraceptives also have the authorization to dispense the “Plan B” emergency contraception and any other oral or injectable birth control to girls without parental consent.

A program called CATCH, which stands for Connecting Adolescents To Comprehensive Health, has a hand in this whole shenanigan in an effort to fight against teen pregnancy.

Since they have started this program in 5 schools last year, 567 students were issued Plan B tablets and 580 received Reclipsen birth-control pills, the city Department of Health told The Post. Soon, students will be able to also get administered the Depo-Provera shots which are prescribed by Health Department doctors through the CATCH program. This gives the school nurses the ability to administer the pills to the underage teens.

The program was also presented to ninth graders during summer orientation and there were some who actually very receptive to it while others felt it was just as crazy as I do.

“I don’ t want to be a young kid who gets pregnant and can’t find a job,” one cautious freshman told The Post.

A 14-year-old pal agreed. “I would go to the nurse without telling my parents, and I would ask for help,” she said.

One parent spoke saying:

“Girls shouldn’t be sexually active at that age,” she added.“Parents should know if their daughter is pregnant,” she said.

One teacher who had two pregnant teens in her class last year applauded the program, but also worried that it would encourage careless sex.

Getting knocked up, she said, “is not cool and not accepted among peers.”

“If they made a mistake, they could still do something about it,” she said.

Others resent the lack of parental involvement.

“We can’t give out a Tylenol without a doctor’ s order,” said a school staffer. “Why should we give out hormonal preparations with far more serious possible side effects, such as blood clots and hypertension?”

All I can say is WOW!!! This story has seriously thrown me for a loop. They wonder why teens are so out of control it’s because they are creating all these laws and programs that allow them to pretty much do whatever they without parental consent. They are putting these teens in adult situations and that’s the main reason they are being so careless because they don’t think anything will happen to them. So many teens are being diagnosed with HIV at such a young age because they are just having unprotected sex with any and everybody worrying more about getting pregnant than catching a deadly disease. Lord, help our children.

What are your thoughts???
