Witch hazel is widely used as an all natural beauty product to cleanse, tone, and soothe irritated skin. According to Drugs.com, “witch hazel is a deciduous bush or small tree reaching about 6 m in height found in damp woods throughout most of North America. It has broad, toothed oval leaves, and golden yellow flowers. Brown fruit capsules appear after the flowers. The dried leaves, bark, and twigs are used.” (Drugs.com)
I love to use witch hazel as a part of my beauty regime to cleanse my face instead of using harsh soaps or other cleansing products. I’ve done this for many times, I must admit that I’m not always consistent with keeping witch hazel in my beauty cabinet but when I do, it does wonders for keeping my skin looking hydrated, pimple free, and refreshed. I even have my husband using it lol. He loves it. It’s probably a perfect alternative for him to use the witch hazel in his beauty regime since he don’t care to use shaving creams or any other creams while shaving. Lucky for him his skin still remains smooth and razor bump free, but at times he may get a blackhead hear or there.
For men, their facial cleansing methods are definitely different from women. Often times they use harsher products like their creams to cleanse their face when some may need something as simple as a natural cleansing liquid or bar. Witch hazel is a good alternative for just that, according to WebMD. Amazingly, witch hazel is not only a good beauty product for both men and women to have in their beauty pantry, it also is good for catching gnats. Yes I said catching and killing gnats. The little annoying insects that fly around all over the place and you swatting at all day during the Summer months. Witch hazel will do the trick.
I found this amazing discovery after my husband left the witch hazel open on the bathroom counter. I was in the bathroom getting ready when I saw gnats floating around in my witch hazel. Thank goodness that the bottle was almost empty instead of having to waste a half full to full bottle of witch hazel because it had been invaded by gnats. I know for sure that these gnats like the witch hazel because they climbed their little insect self into an almost empty bottle and drowned. Now I’ve tried the home remedy of killing gnats by leaving vinegar water out on the counters. I would have the cup full to almost flowing over and the dang gnats never really jumped in. But only within about a few hours or a day or so of leaving that witch hazel bottle open on accident, about ten gnats had gone to gnat heaven.
Gnat problem? Try it and share your story!!! Let’s catch some gnats.
