Viral Video Blames Wearing Weaves For Woman’s Hair Loss But I Beg To Differ

Now before I even get started, let me say this…. I’m NOT in any way trying to bash anyone and that this is not only my opinion, but known facts about wearing weaves, wigs and extensions!!! This viral video is said to be warning women about weaves, but it’s not the weaves it’s the woman wearing the weaves who causes the problems.

Yesterday, a viral video posted by popular hairstylist Razor Chic of Atlanta of a woman who suffered severe hair loss had everyone shocked that she said wearing weaves, wigs and extensions were the cause.

Razor Chic of Atlanta took to her Facebook page to share the video of the woman telling how she landed in a place she is currently where her hair has gone completely bald around the edges and even the middle of her scalp seemingly severely damaged and missing hair as well.

THANK U FOR BEING A BLESSING. AGAIN LET ME SAY THAT I’M NOT ANTI WEAVE U JUST CAN NOT LIVE BY IT ON A EVERYDAY BASIS. I TELL PEOPLE ALL THE TIME CLIENTS ARE CHASING STYLES AND STYLIST ARE CHASING THE DOLLAR AND AIN’T NOBODY LISTENING TO THE HAIR. THIS HAS TO STOP🚨!!!! I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO USE MY PLATFORM TO SAY SOMETHING ABOUT IT. THESE WOMEN ARE COMING FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD TO SIT IN MY CHAIR CAUSE THEY WANT OUT AND TIRED. BUT CANT FIND ANYONE WHO CAN TAKE CARE OF THEIR REALHAIR IF U ONLY KNEW HOW MANY TEARS ARE SHED IN MY CHAIR CAUSE OF THE MISTAKES THEY MADE CHASING STYLES AND CONVENIENCE. WHERE IN THE HELL IS ALL THE REAL STYLIST THAT KNOW HAIR????‪#‎razorchicofatlantasalon‬ ‪#‎realstylistschangelives‬ ‪#‎razorchic‬ ‪#‎hairloss‬ ‪#‎damage‬ ‪#‎hair‬‪#‎cutlife‬ ‪#‎modernsalon‬ ‪#‎realhair‬ ‪#‎paulmitchell‬ ‪#‎empire‬ ‪#‎aveda‬

Now I totally agree with Razor Chic of Atlanta that this is not funny at all. Realistically, no woman wants to suffer from hair loss of any kind, but to blame it on wearing weaves, wigs, quick weaves, etc, is where I beg to differ.

I wear sew-ins, braids, wigs and quick weaves (in my former life), and have never suffered this kind of hair loss EVER because I know the importance of taking care of my hair underneath. I know the importance of taking breaks and allowing your hair/scalp to breathe, AND… If I saw a change in my hair, I would do whatever it took to restore my hair and get it back to a healthy place.

Now, this young lady suffered serious hair loss and it was at her own hands. In the video, she admitted to doing sew-ins, quick weaves and wearing wigs where she herself braided her hair down. I’m not trying to be funny at all, but at some point she had to notice her hair was breaking off and her edges were being snatched.

Edges are seriously the most fragile part of your hair as they don’t grow in as long as the rest of your hair and pulling and tugging on them can cause them to break and become a thing of the past. At some point, I’m sure she noticed this, but continued wearing weaves because like me, I’m sure she loves the way hair extensions make her look and she wanted to cover up where her hair was beginning to break instead of fixing the problem.

Most chicks walk around here with weaves/sew-ins in their hair for months at a time because they want to “get their money worth” all along they are destroying their natural hair underneath. Any real stylist will advise her client to only wear their sew-ins at max 8 weeks and to come back to them to have it washed and treated to care for the hair underneath, but most chicks DON’T do that of course. Then when they suffer this kind of hair loss, they want to blame the stylist.

Another thing is, a lot of chicks chair hop. What I mean by that is they go from stylist to stylist looking for cheaper prices or what not and then when they have issues with their hair, look for stylists like Razor Chic of Atlanta to be the clean up woman and fix their hair.

Finally, the biggest issue I’ve seen is that when removing these extensions, sew-ins, quick weaves, etc., most of them don’t remove them properly and are snatching them off and there’s glue there which takes out their hair. Cutting out the extensions without help and cutting out their own hair by accident as well.

So before everyone starts going in about how wearing weaves is bad, please make sure to educate yourself because I wear weaves all the time and I have long, healthy, natural hair underneath. Yes, wearing weaves are nice and cute, etc., but you must think about that moment when you decide to take them out and whether or not you’ll have any of your own hair left to wear.

Peep some of my pics with and without weaves as well as celebrity women who wear weaves all the time and show off their long, healthy natural tresses.

Sooooooo, this viral video may have some fearing weaves, but weave doesn’t make you bald. It’s a protective style not a permanent style. Educate yourselves!!!
