I’ve always loved Tyrese for his ability to take music and make you feel like real love still exists and that there are still good men out there who are looking for good women they can treat like a queen. Now he’s got a new respect from me after seeing a video of him during an interview by Necole Bitchie staff.

In the interview, he had a message for independent women out there, black women in particular and how being too independent will lead to loneliness. As a woman who’s all about having and holding my own, I definitely understood and agreed to the things he said. Although I am independent and like having my own things and money, I still want a man in my life that knows how to be a man and hold his position as the king of my throne.

There were some things in particular he said that really stuck with me because I think some women out here really do have the wrong definition and interpretation of “being independent” as it relates to what men define as independent. I see Tyrese as a real man and think he has really good king qualities so it was interesting to hear the definition an “independent woman” from a man’s perspective.

I want to say to all of the women that are out there. You know a lot women, especially black women in particular, you know y’all are on this independent kick. ‘I don’t need no man, I’m independent.’ I want y’all to know the difference, there is a difference. Very big difference. Independence, in the eyes of a man, is when we say we want an independent woman. We don’t want a woman that’s just holding onto her sexy and nice body to get her through life. You don’t wanna work, you don’t wanna go to college or school you’re not inspired to anything on any level to try and help further yourself. You just want to be sexy and freeload. Nobody wants that as a man.

And then some women are so on this independent kick, they end up being alone. You go and buy all the poodles you want. ‘Well at least my dog is happy to see me when I get home everyday.’ That dog will never be able to replace or that rabbit will never be able to replace what a real man can do for you. So stay independent, get your own have your own but nobody wants to be alone, PERIOD!

He goes on to say:

There’s a lot MAN’S Men still left, we’re out here. We’re waiting, we’re wanting, we desire you just like you desire us. Just don’t give up on us. Stay.

I swear my heart just melted after hearing that. It really gives me and I’m sure tons of other women out there hope. It goes back to being patient and waiting on the king designed just for you instead of settling for a no-good dude or just finding ways to mooch off men, which they don’t like at all.
