Since letting us into her personal life on her hit reality show “Braxton Family Values,” Tamar Braxton has been very open about how bad she wanted to pursue her dream of being a super star solo artist and finally her dreams have come true. Tamar dropped her debut/sophomore album a few months ago and she has been on top ever since, but it wasn’t an easy road for her.
Although she is the baby sister of thee Toni Braxton, Tamar has caught all kind of hell trying to make a big break in the music industry as a solo artist. During a sit down with Necole Bitchie, she revealed that she was dropped from numerous record labels and has had five failed record deals, but that didn’t stop her from chasing her dreams.
Tamar took home three Soul Train awards including Song of the Year for “Love and War,” Best R&B/Soul Female Award and The Ashford & Simpson Songwriter’s Award. While accepting the Best R&B Female Award, she gave a very emotional, heart-felt speech thanking God and everyone who believed in her saying that she wasn’t ever going to give up on her dreams whether she was 36 or 56.
Say what you want about Tamar, but one thing you take away from her is her determination to make her dream as a solo artist come true and honestly after watching her speech (and tearing up as well), she really inspired me to keep pushing hard towards my own dreams because it’s never too late until you’re dead. Like her, I’m in my 30s as well and there are a lot of things that I still want to achieve and accomplish in life as far as my career and entrepreneur journey is related and I just really got that extra push and fire after watching her speech. She may never ever see this post, but I seriously wanted to thank her for her speech because it really touched me and any time I think about giving up on my dreams, I’m going to remember Tamar.
