I remember a few years ago when Solange decided to go natural and do the big chop. At first, I thought she was out of her mind, but now I understand exactly why she did it.
As a natural chica myself, fooling around with this natural hair can be very time consuming and honestly it gets on my natural nerves at times. LOL! Honestly, I love being chemical free and furthermore, I feel way more free with my hair natural. I can rock it pretty much however I like and even though it doesn’t come out right sometimes, no one can really tell. Now how lovely is that to never really have a bad hair day, well to some.
In case you all are wondering if Solange spends time managing her own natural hair, here is a regimen she goes by to keep that fro tight and moisturized.
On What She Uses On Her Natural Hair
“Carols Daughter Monoi Oil Shampoo and Conditioner. I also use raw shea butter every day and pure Argon oil when its really dry (so pure, it makes me smell like a basket of nuts).”
On Deep Conditioning
“Once a week I set up a time where I wash and deep condition and very carefully comb out my hair, always starting with the ends first. Yesterday was that day, and so I literally popped in a dvd (My Week With Marilyn to be exact)…sectioned off my hair with clips, and combed. I usually sit under a heat cap to penetrate the conditioner and when it’s all clean and rinsed, I twist it with two strands of hair into twists.”
On Refreshing Her Hair Styles with Water“When I take them out, I shower again…not getting the hair wet, but letting the steam frizz my hair up a bit more. Occasionally when I am tired of this lengthy regimen, I get braids or wear extensions in the same texture as my own hair to give myself a break.”Plus, check out Solange with her hair blown out below. Doesn’t she look fab???
