I’m at the 76ers game to sing the national anthem and the organization telling me that I can’t because I’m wearing WE MATTER jersey.
…the statement that Singer Sevyn Streeter made via a video she posted on instagram once she was denied the right to perform the national anthem during the 76ers game. Should the organization have pulled her from the performance because of what she wore? Because we know it wasn’t about what she wore but the wording on the shirt itself, the symbolization behind we matter. We all have seen different performances of the national anthem, was Streeter denied this right because the symbolic meaning of the shirt or that the shirt wasn’t fit to represent our nation’s anthem? Is this an injustice? Prejudice? Discrimination even? Right or wrong? Thoughts?
