breast-cancer-awareness-save-the-tatas-october-13-no-bra-day-1As you all know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and it’s a month that’s near and dear to my heart since my mom is a survivor five years and counting.

While scrolling on Instagram, I ran across a picture on my timeline that said “Support Breast Cancer Awareness Free The Tatas October 13 No Bra Day.” Studies have shown that certain types of bras can cause breast cancer, particularly the under wire bras.

On October 13th, they are asking women to go with no bras in order to raise awareness for breast cancer. That wouldn’t be a problem at all for Nicki Minaj as she’s already told Ellen during her last appearance on the show that she never wears bras and that they are “the devil.” [Watch clip below]

Also, Wendy Williams is putting her hand in raising breast cancer awareness by giving breast cancer survivors makeovers. Details below…

The Wendy Williams Show will be making over two women who are breast cancer survivors each week throughout the month of October. they will each be receiving a new wig or hairpiece from Wendy Williams Hair World which will be personally styled by Wendy and her personal “wigologist.” The makeovers started on October 1st and will run the entire month for breast cancer awareness.

We’re going to give these women, who have really been through the wringer with their medical treatments, a whole new look!” Adding, “We want them to feel strong and positive about their lives. We’re going to help with that extra bit of confidence for when they need to go back to work, attend a wedding or even just reconnect with their partner.

  1. Undeniably believe that which you said. Your favorite reason appeared to
be on the net the easiest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I definitely get irked
while people think about worries that they
plainly do not know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and
defined out the whole thing without having side effect , people could take a signal.
Will likely be back to get more. Thanks

  2. As a twice diagnosed breast cancer patient who has a regional metastasis of triple negative breast cancer, I was deeply concerned about this campaign. October 13th is actually Breast Cancer Metastasis Awareness Day. Who came up with ‘Save the Tatas’ obviously has no idea what a breast cancer diagnosis is all about. For those of us struggling through our daily lives, our Tatas don’t need saving, but our lives do…. how is it that our society still looks at breast cancer as a sexy, pink-soaked fun-filled fundraiser event and an endless supply of pink products that make manufacturers wealthy all in the name of awareness.

I am sick and so are so many more women…. there was a time when I knew no one with breast cancer and now I know far too many…. and we are dying. Who cares about saving the tatas…. the very parts that are now threatening our lives? My cancer moved into my neck and began to suffocate me. My breast has a deep hole in it where my tumour was removed and an arm that swells some days because they removed most of my lymph nodes under the arm. I lost my career and re-invented my life…. and then the next diagnosis came weeks after my graduation from University. My insurance rates skyrocketed and I do not make anywhere near what I used to make…. I am still working while going through chemo because I have no insurance anymore and because I love what I do. I am an educator and an advocate and I am not impressed with this latest endeavor. We do need to raise money but we need to do in in a socially responsible way that does not included over running the one day offered to allow others to learn what Metastasis is all about. At the end of the day….. I just want to live long enough to see my children realize their own dreams and adulthood.
