Plus Size Fashion Blogger GabiFresh Stops By “The Real” To Dish On Style Secrets
It always warms my heart to see a confident plus size woman who isn’t afraid to go against the grain and show off her thickness and curves and furthermore, says EFF society and their beauty standards.
I was first introduced to plus size fashion blogger GabiFresh back in 2014 when she and two other blogger buddies remade the Beyonce “Flawless” video saying EFF society and their beauty standards and making it known that beauty comes in all different shapes and sizes.
Plus size fashion has some a long way, but it still has a long way to go, but we gotta be thankful for how far it has come. As a plus size woman myself, over the years, it has been so hard to shop and find things that don’t have a bunch of flowers on it and looks like something an older woman would wear. I mean I would literally have to go from store to store and piece things together in order to look like something.
AND… As a plus size woman, it’s often very hard to find clothes that compliment your actual body and shape. We all come in different shapes so it’s very important that you find clothing that compliments your body type.
Plus size fashion blogger GabiFresh of GabiFresh.com has always been a fashion inspiration for me and I was too excited to see her appear on “The Real” talk show earlier this week.
While on the show, GabiFresh, also known as Gabi Gregg, sounded off on the lack of contemporary wardrobe for young, trendy women size 14 and up and how she’s going to fill the void. She also introduced her fourth swimwear collection from the “Swimsuit For All”.
Peep a snippet below:
Jeannie Mai: How do you think fashion has changed since you first started?
GabiFresh: Oh my God. Plus size fashion has changed so much.
Loni Love: Yes.
GabiFresh: I started blogging seven years ago…
Loni: You remember, it used to be just duvet covers with flowers.
GabiFresh: Oh, my God. It was horrible.
Loni: That’s it!
GabiFresh: Really, it was so matronly and for older women. I was a teenager when I started to love fashion and then was so disappointed with the options. So, to see how far we’ve come has been really amazing. Obviously, it’s still tough, even now for me to go into a mall and find something I love, but I do a lot of my shopping online and things are slowly, but surely, getting better.
Adrienne Bailon: That’s awesome!
Jeannie: Kudos to all those fashion brands out there designing.
Adrienne: And kudos to you for designing.
GabiFresh: Thank you.
Adrienne: You recently released your fourth swimsuit line. So, tell us about it.
GabiFresh: Um, so this is the fourth year I’ve collaborated with an “e-tailor” called “Swimsuits for All.”
Jeannie: That’s awesome!
GabiFresh: Thank you.
Jeannie: You look amazing.
GabiFresh: Thank you. That’s from my most recent collection.
Adrienne: Look at that! [Referring to the photo of GabiFresh in one of her swimsuits.]
Gabifresh: Thank you.
Loni: Look at that one!
GabiFresh: Thank you. And it’s been amazing because I really been passionate about it and swimwear options were kind of the last frontier. They were so matronly, a lot of skirted suits and for those of us who are more confident and who do want to show off our bodies, there were so few things out there for us so I’m so honored to have helped to start the movement to see plus size girls in bikinis.
