Magazine CovHER: Missy Elliott For Elle
The ever so iconic Missy Elliott graces the cover of Elle magazine for their June 2017 Women in Music issue. After laying low for over a decade, Missy came back with a bang with her hit single WTF (Where They From).
Missy dropped some serious hits back in the early 2000s and was best known for her songs “The Rain” and “Work It“. 20 years later, Missy finally dishes on the meaning behind the infamous plastic bag suit inside Elle magazine.

“To me, the outfit was a way to mask my shyness behind all the chaos of the look. Although I am shy, I was never afraid to be a provocative woman. The outfit was a symbol of power,” Elliott told the magazine. “I loved the idea of feeling like a hip-hop Michelin woman. I knew I could have on a blow-up suit and still have people talking. It was bold and different. I’ve always seen myself as an innovator and a creative unlike any other.”
