Lauren London Addresses Body Shaming Trolls
The other day, Lauren London and her fiance Nipsey Hussle were out enjoying a date night at the Lakers game when some internet trolls came for her.
As we all know, Lauren had a baby back in September so a little weight gain is natural. The internet trolls went crazy talking ish about her and Lauren responded in the most classy way ever.
I’ve been getting compliments on my LOOKS for years. I NEVER let it “gas me” because I knew the enduring value in all things internal. When I decided to have my son, I knew the internet would be cruel. I knew that casting directors would consider me out of commission for at least a year. I knew that MY BODY would change, but I did not let the fear of these things effect me to the point of going against my spirit. I asked myself: would you rather be at conflict with yourself and at peace with the world? Or at peace with yourself and at conflict with the world? I chose the latter, at that moment I was ready for whatever came with it. This lil weight will get worked off and WHO I AM WILL BE UNCOMPROMISED. WIN-WIN NO? -LL THE GREAT
I’m so glad Lauren is unbothered by these internet trolls and chooses to be happy. In the entertainment industry, women are expected to maintain a certain “body image”, not have babies, etc., which is something that we’re naturally supposed to do. Men, on the other hand, can spread their seeds all over the world and keep working. Why is it so different for women?
Women only have a limited amount of time to have and carry a child before it’s considered “high risk”. If she doesn’t start her family now, then when?
People talked a lot of ish about Janet Jackson when she decided to start a family with her husband, but it was a must. Janet was pushing 50 when she decided to get pregnant and gave birth at 50. People were talking major noise about her being “too old” to have a baby. Lauren is at having baby age and folks are dogging her for her little weight gain.
Having a baby is natural. Gaining a little weight during pregnancy is natural. All these reality star chicks promoting their “snap back” are not only making these folks forget about the natural process of child birth, but also the blessing. Women birth the world and a little weight gain ain’t never hurt nobody.
