Like anything else in the world you wonder, how safe could it be for a child!!!
Back a few years ago now, a new hair care technology for hair straightening hit the market known as the Brazilian Blow Out! The Brazilian Blow Out was created to help resolve the issues and consumer complaints of chemical burns and in some cases hair loss that come along with hair relaxers. Relaxers are mainly made up of a form of alkali in different strengths to help aid in the relaxing of tighter curl patterns. In applying relaxers for many years, as a hair care professional I have found that most of these issues of chemical burns or hair loss arose when consumers fail to seek a professional to apply the relaxer treatment, over-process their hair, or apply the relaxer on too quickly after rendering a previous chemical service.
When the new technology hit the market, the Brazilian Blow Out, I was a bit skeptical in trying the product especially since it was being advertised as a straightening treatment that had no chemicals. As we all know, chemicals make up the components of most of the things we consume, even the shampoo or body soap in which we use on our bodies on a regular basis. My question was, how is it that a manufacturer can produce a hair straightening system that was not a relaxer but provided similar benefits in leaving the hair more manageable without reconstructing the curl pattern permanently? In earlier studies of the newly founded hair straightening treatments the product was not as safe or “chemically” free as the manufacturer claimed. There were many investigations that proved otherwise (click here).
With a little tweaking and further research there are now safer Keratin Hair Straightening Treatment on the market that even can be used on kids. They don’t smell harsh nor cause burning of the eyes. Newer systems gives hair a luxurious shine, add body, make curls more manageable and last up to 3 months. There are treatments that are said to last longer, but you have to wonder….if it last longer it must have a stronger chemical make-up. Right? Think before you try.
