I don’t know about you all, but I have been on a weight loss journey for quite some time. During my marriage, I gained a lot of weight and now I’m doing everything in my power to get it off again and get back down to some where around 175 lbs.
So far, I have lost a little over 60 lbs and still have quite a ways to go, but have fell off over the last couple weeks. I’ll be the first to admit that the struggle is too real, but while I was scrolling Facebook, I ran across this picture of Jada Pinkett-Smith walking on a stair master.
It wasn’t seeing her on the stair master that got me back motivated, it was the message she had with the picture. It read:
Don’t take your health for granted. Don’t take your body for granted. Do something today that communicates to your body that you desire to care for it.
Tomorrow is not promised.
Reading that really gave me a lot to think about and also made me realize just how much I take my health and body for granted. I have got to get back serious about my weight loss journey and getting my body to a healthy state because tomorrow is not promised. There are so many people dying from heart disease, cancer, diabetes, etc. and I don’t want to be one of those people. I know we all have to go one day, but I would rather know that I did everything in my power to stay here and be healthy the entire time I was here.
We all know that Jada has always been a big health nut and has maintained a slim frame, but it was due to something her grandmother taught her. It’s not about dieting, it’s about changing your lifestyle.
This really motivated me to get back on my weight loss/fitness journey and I just had to share because I know I’m not the only one who is struggling with this. It’s so easy to get knocked back off track, but yet so hard to get started back up. I am going to remember this picture and what she said every time I think about stopping. My health is very important to me and I want to be here for many years to come.
I know she’ll probably never read this, but I want to thank her for being such an inspiration to me. I can’t wait to get to my weight goal, but even when I do the fitness journey will never end because it is my lifestyle.
