Well I guess the rumors were true because Nicki Minaj has been officially named one of the new judges for American Idol. The ‘Super Bass‘ singer not only is the new judge, but she racked in a whopping $8 MILLION for her new gig.
Host Ryan Seacrest broke the news via Twitter:
It’s official, your new #IdolJudges are @MariahCarey, @NickiMinaj, @KeithUrban & @Yo_RandyJackson!…Everyone gave a heartfelt toast about being on the show after we ate last night. Cant wait to see the first contestants today. #IdolJudges
Although I don’t think she’s the best choice of discovering “talent,” I guess Fox knows what they’re doing by snatching up some of the hottest celebs with a heavy following to keep bringing in the ratings for their hit show.
Auditions for the 12th season kicked off yesterday in New York and “American Idol” returns to TV in January.
I’m really interested in seeing how Nicki rates the contestants so I just might tune in this season. Will you be watching?
