We all know the fashion industry is very discriminatory against plus-size women but now this. Italian Vogue has really raised some eyebrows with their latest earrings on their website called ‘Slave Earrings.’ Now I don’t know about yall, but I’m feeling some type of way about this! It’s like really.. Yall couldn’t think of ANY other name for these earrings?
Twitter has been flooded with people trying to get a petition going to have them remove the name ‘Slave’ from the earrings after a recently published article on hoop earrings was shared online. Tons of comments posted under this picture that have gone both ignored and unanswered. I checked the site later on and they name went from ‘Slave’ to ‘Ethnic’ now.. Hmmmmmmm! Yeah whatever!
The post under the earrings read:
“Jewellery has always flirted with circular shapes, especially for use in making earrings. The most classic models are the creole styles in gold hoops.”
“If the name brings to the mind the decorative traditions of the women of colour who were brought to the southern Unites States during the late 18th century, the latest interpretation is pure freedom. Colored stones, symbolic pendants and multiple spheres. And the evolution goes on.”
Really???? First of all, honey whatever! Second of all, HONEY WHATEVER!!! What the hell earrings have to do with slavery? What kind of mess yall trying to pull? Like forreal!
Anyway tell me what yall think!
