For those of you who are dieting or on a weight loss journey as I am, there is no need to put on unwanted pounds during the Thanksgiving holiday. You can still enjoy all the lovely soul food and festivities while still having control and maintaining your new healthy lifestyle.
Here is a tip that can really save you from seeing the scale move in the wrong direction after the Thanksgiving holiday:
The most important thing you have to keep in mind regardless of all the GREAT food you will be surrounded by is PORTION SIZE!!! You must maintain portion control no matter what. You can still eat what you want but it’s all about HOW MUCH of it you eat that is the problem. If you’re like me and your eyes are much bigger than your stomach, then you will definitely have to keep this in mind.
Portion size is one of the most powerful links to overeating and it is very likely to happen around the holidays, not just Thanksgiving.
If you take smaller portions of the Thanksgiving meal, you will still get to enjoy the food without completely blowing your diet. Being conscious of how much you are eating is the key element to sticking to your diet both through the holidays and all year round.
So instead of piling all that good food on your plate at one time, just remember how hard you worked to get off those unwanted pounds and how hard you’ll have to work if you gain some during the holidays. It’s okay to eat good food and enjoy time with your family during the holidays, but you still must remember that this has to be a life changing situation and that you can always take a to-go plate to enjoy more of the food later!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone
