See this is the exact reason why I choose to cook and eat my food at home. I don’t have time for this foolery. Bad enough I already wonder what happens to the food as it transitions from the farm to the stores and seeing this really makes me think twice about stopping at a fast food restaurant while I’m out.
Apparently, a Burger King employee thought it would be a really great joke to post the picture above of him standing in two bins of lettuce captioned ”This is the lettuce you eat at Burger King.” According to Digital Life on Today, the photo was originally posted on an image website, 4Chan, where they can participate in anonymous discussions.
Moments after the photo was posted on 4Chan, some users identified the exact location of the Burger King, as the fool forgot to remove the geo-tags before posting. Bothered by the very disturbing event, the 4Chan users submitted the photo to local news outlets and it went viral.
Bryson Thorton, director for global communications of Burger King, confirmed the exact location to where the photo was taken which happened to be an independently owned franchise. Thornton also assured that immediate action had been taken against all parties involved.
“The franchisee has taken swift action to investigate this matter and terminated the three employees involved in the incident,” he said, after giving me a standard statement, which I suspect was painful to draft:
Burger King Corp. has recently been made aware of a photo that shows a Burger King restaurant employee violating the company’s stringent food handling procedures. Food safety is a top priority at all Burger King restaurants and the company maintains a zero-tolerance policy against any violations such as the one in question.
All I can say is that I am utterly disgusted and I’m not sure if termination is enough justification for these fools that decided to play such a sick joke. I don’t think it was funny and I’m sure the owners of the Burger King franchise didn’t either as it will definitely cause tons of negative publicity for them and hurt their pockets. Not that this will stop people for eating fast food, but it definitely will make them opt for a gym membership instead. I never eat out much and this definitely will keep me out of the drive-thru of any restaurants for a long time.
