CovHER Girl: Zendaya Vogue Magazine
Zendaya Vogue magazine cover is completely gorgeous. In my eyes, the Disney star can seriously do no wrong.
Zendaya, 20, was just named the face of CoverGirl last year. She’s getting ready to make her first movie debut and no telling what else she has in store. She is definitely one going all the way up and will be around for a long time.
There are so many reasons why I love Zendaya and one of the main reasons is that she has a no-nonsense attitude. One of the things I gathered from this interview is that she had a “take charge” mentality from the beginning. For her to go in and talk to the top Disney folks like “here are my demands, take it or leave it” was courageous. A lot of folks want the stardom so bad, they take whatever those folks have to offer. She went in with a plan and idea in mind and stuck with it. Laid her cards on the table and that’s why she’s so successful.
For the Vogue interview, Zendaya Coleman dishes on her first encounter with Disney, being an activist and today’s “it girl”. Her father also dishes on how she was as a child. How she pretty much always went against the grain and broke all the rules.
Peep excerpts from the interview below:
On meeting up with Disney:
I got in a room with the heads of Disney Channel. I was like, ‘The title is whack. That’s gonna change.’ I wanted to make sure that she wasn’t good at singing or acting or dancing. That she wasn’t artistically inclined. I didn’t want them to all of a sudden be like, ‘Oh, yeah, and then she sings this episode!’ No. She can’t dance; can’t sing. She can’t do that stuff. There are other things that a girl can be.
On moving to Hollywood:
We weren’t used to dealing with people in a Hollywood way. There’s just a certain layer of fake bullshit.
