Had my very first mammogram today at 34 even though I was supposed to start at 30 due to my family history. Lost my grandmother when I was 5 and she was only 42 and one of my cousins a few years ago on our birthday who was only 44 (if I’m not mistaken). When my mom passed the age of 42, I was happy because I felt like it skipped her, but at 45 she was diagnosed with breast cancer as well. I’m proud and very thankful to say that my mom Patricia has been #BreastCancer free 7 years and counting. No chemo, no radiation… Nothing but God!!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 She’s the first one in her family to beat it (as I knew she would from day one) and me and my sisters will continue to defeat it. #SaveTheTaTas#BreastCancerAwarenessMonth#BreastCancerAwareness#BeatBreastCancerDontLetItBeatYou 💅🏾💋
I was more terrified about the procedure versus any results because the way my mom described it, I thought I was going to be missing a breast when it was all over. It actually wasn’t half bad, but it was very awkward and necessary, especially with my family history.
Well, yesterday I got a call back about my results and they were abnormal so I’m going to have to go back and have an ultrasound and diagnostic test done as well. I’m not the least bit worried, but I will keep you all updated on what’s going on with me!!!
Ladies, be sure to get yourselves checked and do your monthly exams.
