Amina Buddafly ‘The Other Woman’ Book Signing
Last week I had the pleasure of attending Love & Hip Hop New York star Amina Buddafly ‘The Other Woman‘ book signing here in Atlanta.
When I first heard about her book, my first thought was why would she name it that? Then again, why not? I mean, if’ you’ve watched her life play out on Love & Hip Hop, you’d understand the title.
On the show, Amina was pretty much deceived by Peter Pankey, her husband, and ended up having two of his 10 children. Amina, like many women who’ve been in her situation, wanted to believe Peter, but of course what’s done in the dark comes to the light. Especially after Tara Wallace popped up pregnant again.
I was actually excited to attend this book signing, because even while watching the show, I’ve always thought she was a sweet person. After meeting her in person, I still feel the same way. To my surprise, Peter was actually there to support her, which was good.
During the book signing, she dished on why she decided to write the book, talked about music, who she wante dto tour with, motherhood, and read snippets from her book.
Although I arrived a little late due to attending an event prior, I did get a chance to ask her a few questions. I asked her who she wanted to tour with, what advice would she offer her daughters if they ended up in the same situation and what would she name her second book.
On who she wants to do a music tour with:
I would love to open up for someone who is bigger than me, you know? Like Robin Thicke or someone like that. Like that would be dope Someone who does real music and plays like me. I feel like that audience they would like what I do. Or somebody with an expand audience that play with artists that are people that watch the show. That possibly don’t know who I am. Whenever I play at a “white” audience, they have no clue of who I am, like reality. They’re like “who is she”, but they like my music. I want to go back to focusing on my music.
Amina also dished on that she is managing herself right now. I would say she’s doing a pretty good job considering she has two small children. I’m looking forward to seeing more from her because I love her music and her voice.
One thing that I did love to hear while talking to Amina is the fact that she said she loves herself. Many people seem to think she doesn’t. Just because you’re in a bad situation, doesn’t mean you don’t love yourself. Sometimes it means you just love the other person a little too much!
Like Amina, there are many other women all over the world who’ve been “the other woman” whether they knew it or not. Hers just happened to play out for the world to see.
I wish her much success with her music, her book and any other future endeavors she has coming up. Thanks a bunch for my signed copy of ‘The Other Woman‘. I can’t wait to dive in!
